4 killed in taxi versus car collision
Netcare 911 responded to a call on Saturday night on the R59 between Sasolburg and Parys where a car was involved in a head on collision with a taxi. All four occupants of the car were killed in the accident. Seven taxi passengers were critically injured including the driver who had one of his legs amputated, the impact was severe and the two vehicles were stuck together.
A further four passengers suffered less severe injuries.Four different hospitals treated the injured patients.
Update: The taxi driver as well as one of the critically injured passengers have both since died in hospital, bringing the death toll to six.
