Rather be warm and safe than COOL and hurt! ATGATT!
Many casual bikers might like to impress by wearing very little protective clothing. This might however be the last time that they will ever appear “cool” on their bikes. Serious accidents might leave them severely scarred!
The biking community in South Africa is well acquainted with the term ATGATT – an acronym for the phrase “All the Gear All the Time”. This is also the motto of Think Bike – and a message that they drive home in their community involvement at schools, motorcycle training events etc.
Earlier today the Arrive Alive website was notified of the tragic death of a Harley Davidson driver who crashed into the back of a stationary truck. Later the website was also forwarded images of serious accidents, and I decided to post a short blog post to once more alert our bikers to adhere to the ATGATT motto!
Even though personal protective clothing might not help you avoid a crash – it might help to limit the consequences of such impact on the body!
