Johannesburg – The SA National Blood Service (SANBS) appealed on Tuesday for more people to donate blood due to a stock shortage.

“The country only has one day’s supply of group O blood countrywide,” said SANBS spokesperson Justice Mohale.

The shortage of blood may be due to donors who were on holiday and unable to access blood donation clinics, he said.

To donate blood people should be between 16 and 65 years old and weigh an average of 50kg.
