This show will host some of the biggest names in the Freestyle Motocross fraternity and aerial bravery second to none! The EMPIRE OF DIRT South African Tour 2009 will leave you breathless and chanting for more. This 2-hour show will include Freestyle Motocross, Quads, Minibike, BMX, surprise acts and dune buggies to wow the crowds and have you on your feet! The step-up competition will prove that South Africans have what it takes to take on the international big names!
We are proud to announce the next international rider to join the jam-packed list of celebrities and international athletes already lined up. Young, fierce and absolutely out of his mind – Libor Podmol, from Czechoslovakia is one of the most saluted young Freestyle Motocross riders in the world. Libor was born on April fools day, 1984, and when asked what he does not like, his reply is “Some People”! The 25 year old is one of the most talented Freestyle Motocross riders in Europe. After only one year, his first appearance at the NIGHT of the JUMPS he reached #3 on the International Freestyle Motocross Federation world ranking.
The Czech started Freestyle Motocross in 2002 and only three years later he belonged to the League of the European Backflippers. Spectacular was his first contest backflip in Hamburg. Libor crashed at the landing and had to fix his bike with a bit of help from track security. Just in time for the double up he tried again and did it. In 2006 he ended as Vice Champion at the FIM Freestyle Motocross World Championships. In 2007 he put the “heelclicker” and the “cordova flip” to his run. Some of Libor’s accolades include #1 at the Diverse Night of the Jumps in Katowice, #1 at the Highest Air contest at Night of the Jumps in Bremen and #6 at the Red Bull X-Fighters in Madrid.
We are looking for the new faces in South African Xtreme sports by allowing two riders in each of the different categories as wild card riders in the main show. Email your details to info@empireofdirt.co.za if you think you have what it takes to compete on the world stage in either Freestyle Motocross, Quads, Mini Bikes or BMX.
Empire of Dirt will host a full day of fun and entertainment for the whole family. We are also hosting the very first SuperCross Invitational event featuring the top 10 South African Motocross riders in both the Lites and 450cc classes.
We know that South Africans are rugby supporters and that a massive rugby match keeps them at home with a braai watching the game. LEDVision and Zelpy Media will make it possible for rugby fans to watch the game live on big screens, whilst enjoying a cold beer in the beer tent and yes, we will have the beloved South African braai ready as well! Hunters Xtreme will host a lounge with cash bar facilities.
The Activities will shut down at 17:00 and spectators will then make their way to the gates linking the Centurion Rugby Club with SuperSport Park to take their seats for the most spectacular show EVER!
