Two patrons have been shot and killed and five others have been injured in two separate armed robberies at different shebeens on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Around 05h15 Saturday morning 13 June 2009:
Netcare 911 paramedics attended to three male victims following an armed robbery at a tavern in Diepsloot extension 1 informal settelment, north of Johannesburg. Two brothers had both been shot in their lower legs, the 22 year old had been shot on the left had side and the 26 year old on the right hand side. Another 30 year old male had been shot in his right lower leg.
Fortunately all of the victims were in a stable condition and they were transported by ambulance to the Tembisa hospital for further treatment.
Around 01h40am Sunday morning 14 June 2009:
Paramedics met with the SAPS on the R55 and followed them down a dirt track to a shebeen that was located between the shacks in the Olievenhoutbosch informal settelment between Midrand and Centurion. Patrons alleged that several armed men robbed the premises and opened fire indiscriminately on the occupants.
Paramedics from Netcare 911 and the provincial ambulance service attended to four male victims at the scene. The first had been shot in the abdomen and the second had been shot in the upper left arm, both victims had sustained serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to the Tembisa hospital for further treatment. The third and fourth victims both died of their injuries at the scene.
