One die and four other injured in Witbank head-on collision

1 person has died and 4 other sustained injuries following a head-on collision on the Bethal road in Witbank this afternoon.
The cause of the collision is unknown, but a bakkie and a Volkswagen Polo had collided head-on at speed. There was 4 occupants in the Polo and a single driver in the bakkie at the time of the collision.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they could see that the collision was severe judging by the amount of damage sustained to both vehicles. 1 female occupant in the polo, believed to be aged in her mid 40′s, had sustained various fatal injuries and was unfortunately later declared dead at the scene.
The 3 other occupants in the Polo sustained injuries ranging from various scrapes and bruises to broken bones. All of the patients received treatment at the scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility.
The driver of the bakkie sustained minor injuries only. Local law enforcement officials attended the incident and will be investigating the incident further.
