Man critically injured in North Coast smash

A man is in a serious condition after his vehicle smashed into the rear of an eighteen wheeler on the N2 this afternoon. Exact detail as to the cause of the accident and events preceding it will remain a subject for police investigation. However the light motor vehicle collided into the back of the truck on the N2 north near the Sibaya off ramp at around14h26 this afternoon.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the crumpled remains of the car obstructing the highway. Medics were surprised to find any survivors in the accident and after examining the patient they found that he had sustained serious injuries but remained in a stable condition.

After the patient was stabilized on scene they transported him to the Netcare Umhlanga hospital for the care that he required.
