A sixteen year -year-old boy tragically died after he was struck by a train near the Flamingo Train station in Tongaat on Friday. Reports from the teachers indicate that the child had just got his school report indicating that he passed, he took a short cut home and landed in front of a train.

The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where the Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedics met them. After placing the critically wounded child on ventilator and immobilizing him on a trauma board, they transported the patient to the Nkosi Albert Luthuli hospital for the care that he required.

Tragically though, he passed away soon after he arrived at the hospital.
