Pietermaritzburg accident leaves nine injured

Nine people were injured, two seriously so, after a side-impact accident at the intersection of Richmond and Murray Roads in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon. Exact detail to the cause of the accident is still speculative and remains a subject for police investigation.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the patients at the side of the roadway. After triaging the injured they found that two people sustained serious injuries while seven others escaped with minor injuries, among the injured were two infants a few months old.

After the wounded were stabilized on scene paramedics transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
