  1. Six of the nine slogans suggest driving slower. Speed is not the number one problem, in fact, it is not even the number 10 problem, it is even lower on the list than that. What are you thinking?

  2. I am thinking that someone read something in this that is not written… these are not a “Top 9” road safety quotes..but merely 9 quotes sent in by some readers and written down in no specific order…Feel free to send your best quotes on roadworthiness, alertness, drunken driving, visibility etc etc

We have posted many other postings – which is clearly not in favor of speed enforcement!

  3. I am sorry for the misconceptions here, it was not intended. The salient point is that the general public is so indoctrinated with incorrect fact, that it is assumed that reducing speed will cure all road safety evils. This indoctrination has been going on for a very long time and is well established. So well that the result is something like the top nine list.

The reason for the indoctrination is for the Authorities to have the false moral high ground to continue with a milking (speed tax), that is unjustified in accident prevention. The only purpose is the creation and protection of a huge income from speed fines.

  4. Could not agree more Gerard.

It seems like at the moment, you can get away with any and all road offences such as skipping red lights/stop streets, drive without lights/number plates/safety belts, cross barrier lines at will, push through pedestrians crossing at pedestrian crossings etc, etc, etc, as long as you commit these offences within the speed limit.

While speed control around schools etc is neglected and these “cash-generator” cameras are set up at the place most likely to catch the most motorists such as at the bottom of hills on open roads and so on, manned by up to four photographers, sorry, traffic officals, at a time.

What a serious waste of manpower. These officials should be on the roads stopping offenders and training our nations “vehicle operators” to become “drivers” There is a huge difference between the two and this goes for the people who claim to be “drivers” as their profession especially.
