South coast accident leaves one dead – 17 injured


An elderly female has tragically died while seventeen others were injured after a taxi and a bakkie collided on the P55 in Bomela on the natal south coast this evening at around 18h17. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found some of the injured still trapped in the wreckages. After triaging they found that an elderly female had died before our arrival, three people were critically wounded, nine commuters were seriously injured while five miraculously escaped with minor injuries.

After the injured were stabilised at the scene paramedics transported them to a hospital in Port Shepstone for the care that they required.
