Pedestrian killed near Hammarsdale

A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a car near Hammarsdale earlier today.

The incident occurred on Georgedale road in the Hammarsdale area at around 09h00 this morning. Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services rushed to the scene, however when assessing the man, estimated to be about 30 years of age, they found that he had sustained fatal injuries and he was sadly declared dead by the paramedics.

The exact details surrounding the incident are being investigated by the police

With no prejudice to this case, pedestrians are urged to be extremely careful when walking on the road, weather they are walking home, or across the road to get to the shops, as cars can approach faster than they may perceive.

When on the road:
• Before crossing check both sides of the road are clear of traffic, twice.
• When walking along a road, walk on the side of the road.
• When walking along the road in a group, don’t walk next to each other, rather in single file.
