Collision at Intersection in Pretoria leaves three injured

Three people were injured following an accident at the intersection of Steve Biko Road and Jacobs Street in Gezina, Pretoria this morning after 08h00.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a minibus and VW Polo were involved in the accident.

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation. Reports from the scene indicate that the minibus was travelling in the bus lane down counter-flow traffic when it crashed against the side of the VW Polo turning out of Jacobs Street into Steve Biko Road. Two pedestrians were then knocked over following the crash.

Upon assessment of the occupants of the vehicles it was found that the driver of the VW polo had sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for further medical care.

The two pedestrians, a man and woman, sustained serious and moderate injuries respectively. Both patients were also treated on scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.

Traffic was severely affected as half of the lanes of Steve Biko had to be closed as a result of the accident scene.
