One killed, two injured in head-on collision in Danhauser

A man was killed and two others injured this afternoon when three vehicles collided on Danhauser Road in Danhauser, KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the three vehicles in the middle of the road. One of the vehicles had sustained a considerable amount of damage in the collision.

On assessment, paramedics discovered that a male and female patient lay inside the small wrecked bakkie in a critical condition. The female patient lay trapped inside the vehicle.

Paramedics carefully removed the male patient while rescue services used the jaws-of-life equipment to free the trapped woman in a 30 minute operation.

Once freed from the vehicle, paramedics found that the female patient’s vital signs had diminished. CPR and advanced life support was performed onthe patient to return her vital signs. Unfortunately, after some time, no vital signs returned and she was declared dead on scene.

Paramedics treated the critically injured man as well as another patient who sustained minor injuries in the collision. Once treated, both patients were transported to Dundee Hospital for further medical treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
