Two separate truck collisions leaves four injured near Hammersdale in Pietermaritzburg

Four people were left injured this afternoon in two separate truck collisions on the N3 Highway near Hammersdale in Pietermaritzburg.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the overturned truck in the middle of the road.

On assessment, paramedics found that three men had sustained moderate injuries. Fortunately no-one had sustained any serious injuries.

Paramedics treated and stabilised the patients before they were transported to Hillcrest Hospital for further treatment.

While on the first scene, ER24 paramedics were alerted by Metro services that a second truck collision had occurred 500 metres away in the opposite direction.

On the second scene, paramedics found that one truck had rear-ended a second truck.

On assessment, one truck driver was found to have sustained moderate injuries to his legs. The driver of the second vehicle fortunately escaped without injuries.

Paramedics treated the patient and thereafter transported him to Hillcrest Hospital for further treatment.

The cause of both collisions are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
