A man in his 20s is in s critical condition after his bakkie rear-ended a truck on the M7 near the N3 in Pinetown, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics, along with rescue services, arrived on scene and found both vehicles parked in the left lane of the road. The front edge of the bakkie was completely wedged under the back of the truck.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that the man driver lay trapped in the bakkie and was in a critical condition.
Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the patient from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated and provided the patient with advanced life support interventions.
Shortly after, paramedics transported the patient to RK Khan Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
