Members of the Johannesburg K9 Unit seized drugs, a firearm, cash and cell phones when they raided a flat in Belevista, Booysens policing area yesterday morning at about 07:00. A woman (33) and a man (43) were arrested. They will appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court today on charges of dealing and possession of drugs and illegal firearm.
Police officers acted on information from the members of the public and raided the flat. Inside the flat they seized several exhibits including 54 tablets of mandrax, 7.2 grams of crystal meth and 720 grams of dagga. The estimated value of the drugs are R300 000. They were found hidden inside a child’s room. The woman who resides at the address was arrested and whilst members were busy searching the premises, a man believed to have been visiting the premises to buy drugs was arrested. Police searched him and found packets of dagga in his possession.
It is suspected that these drugs are sold in the area of Booysens and more people may be arrested as investigations continue.
