Six people have been killed and two others injured after a truck and light motor vehicle collided head-on on the N2 highway in Umkomaas, KwaZulu Natal, late last night.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found both the truck and light motor vehicle lying in the slow lane of the highway.
Wreckage from the mangled light motor vehicle was spread across the scene.
On assessment, paramedics found that all six male occupants from the light motor vehicle had sustained fatal injuries in the collision, and lay trapped inside their vehicle.
Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene.
The two occupants from the truck were found to have sustained only minor injuries in the collision. They were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported by provincial services to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
