Mom and child injured when taxi driver loses control of vehicle near bus stop

A woman and child were injured this morning when a taxi driver apparently lost control of the vehicle in Main Road, close to Tramway, in Sea Point.

It is understood that a woman and her child were waiting at the bus stop. The woman, believed to be in her 30’s, saw the taxi and apparently immediately got her child out of the way.

It is understood that the taxi hit the bus stop and woman.

Community members immediately rushed to attend to the woman and the child.

Community Medics arrived on scene and started treatment.

ER24 paramedics and Fire and Rescue attended to the incident. Paramedics assessed the woman and the child, believed to be six years of age. The woman was found to have sustained moderate injuries. The child sustained only minor injuries when her mother tried to get her out of the way.

The patients were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact cause of what led to the taxi driver losing control of the vehicle is unknown.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
