On Sunday evening at 21h15 Netcare 911 paramedics and the Amanzimtoti Fire department responded to a three vehicle collision on the N2 South opposite Kuswag High School. Reports from the scene indicate that a vehicle had broken down at the side of the south bound, another vehicle came hurtling down the highway and rear ended the stationary car and then slammed into the driver that was standing by his vehicle. It is still unsure as to how the third vehicle became involved in the collision.
Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events will form part of the South African Police investigation.
Paramedics from various services arrived at the scene and found that the vehicle that had rear-ended the stationary car had veered across the centre median, its crumpled remains coming to rest on the North bound carriageway after plunging down a steep embankment, the driver got out of the vehicle and was found seated near the passenger door.
After the injured were examined it was found that one man tragically died before our arrival, while four others sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor. Medics treated the injured at the scene before they transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
