Woman dies after being ejected from bakkie

One woman died and several others were injured in an incident that occurred on the N2 Twini Hill in Amamzimtoti late last night.

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found a damaged bakkie and car, both of which were travelling direction Amanzimtoti.

A woman believed to be in her 60’s, who was travelling in the car, was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. She was treated and transported to hospital.

The driver sustained minor injuries and declined to be transported to hospital for further care.

It is understood that a woman was ejected from the back of the bakkie. She was found on the N2 Durban bound under a vehicle that had knocked her.

Sadly there was nothing that could be done for her and she was declared dead.

A child believed to have been about five years of age, believed to have been travelling in the bakkie, was among the other patients who were injured. He sustained minor injuries.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
