Eight people were injured this morning after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on the R103 in Howick, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services arrived on scene shortly before 09h00 this morning. A taxi was found parked on the side of the road while a light motor vehicle was found in the road. Both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage to their front ends.
On assessment, paramedics found that eight people from both the taxi and light motor vehicle had been injured, one of them seriously.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured patient with advanced life support.
Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.
It is believed that the taxi had attempted to overtake another vehicle when he collided with the oncoming vehicle.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
