The swift reaction by police landed a suspect behind bars soon after he perpetrated an attempted burglary at a grocery store in Delft this morning.

Members attached to Delft police station, assisted by their Flying Squad colleagues, received information of an attempted burglary at a shop and immediately searched the area for the suspects when they spotted a VW Golf and a BMW driving at high speed.

The BMW managed to evade police, but the Golf was stopped, which resulted in the discovery of two firearms with removed serial numbers and a crowbar, usually used to gain entry to properties.

The driver, a 35-year-old man was arrested and is due in Blue Downs court next week for the illegal possession of firearms and attempted burglary.
