One killed in as vehicle burns out in collision in Mpumalanga

A collision on the R544 opposite Van Dyk’s Drift mine in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, left one person dead when a vehicle burst into flames.

At approximately 8.30pm last night, paramedics from ER24 and local fire services arrived on the scene where they found a panel-van on the side of the road. The vehicle was well alight at the time. Fire fighters extinguished the fire before paramedics were able to approach the vehicle. The vehicle was completely burnt out.

Upon inspection they found a body inside of the vehicle. Paramedics were unable to identify the person.

It appears if the vehicle collided with a barrier on the side of the road before bursting into flames. The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. The scene was handed over to local police for investigation.
