At 08h20 on Thursday morning Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a two vehicle collision along the M1 (Marian Hill road) at the St Mary’s hospital traffic lights. Reports from the scene indicate that two vehicles were involved in a partial head-on collision. Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events remain a subject for police comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found a female still trapped in the twisted frame of her vehicle with serious injuries, the driver of the other vehicle escaped uninjured.
The Netcare 911 rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the patient from the wreckage while medics clambered into the vehicle to stabilise her. After she was spinally immobilised they removed her from the vehicle and then transported her to a Durban hospital for the care that she required.
