20 children suffered medical related emergencies this morning at a primary school in The Hills in Johannesburg South.
Numerous vehicles from ER24 were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, ER24 paramedics, along with other services, were immediately lead to the sick child children.
ER24 paramedics assessed the children and found that 20 were complaining of abdominal pain as well as nausea and vomiting.
The patients were immediately treated and thereafter transported to South Rand and Baragwanath Hospital for urgent care.
The children later told paramedics that they had apparently been given sweets by an unknown man the previous day.
Local authorities will be investigating further.
ER24 paramedics urge all parents to teach their children not to accept sweets or gifts from strangers.
