Volvo Car South Africa has reaffirmed its partnership with the Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted at the world-famous Gary Player golf course at Sun City from 10-13 November, for the 15th year. The golfing spectacular, which attracts top golfers from all over the world, is Volvo Car South Africa’s biggest annual brand and product showcase.
Supplying vehicles for all forms of transport at the event – including VIP shuttles, player shuttles, inclement weather transfer vehicles and hotel courtesy cars, a 40-strong fleet of Volvo XC90 and XC60 cars are on duty at the event.
Supplementing these vehicles are a host of display cars, including the new Volvo S90, for a sneak peek at Volvo’s mould-breaking sedan ahead of its official launch early in 2017. Visitors to the golf can get up close and personal with the new S90 as they approach the entrance to the course, as well as at the Pro Shop – where the new S90 is joined by the Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid.
Behind the grandstand at the 18th hole, a new Volvo V40 R-Design, an XC60 R-Design and Volvo’s halo performance model, the new S60 Polestar, are also on display.
Win one of four new Volvo’s
As has become tradition at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, tournament players also stand the chance of winning one of four brand new Volvos – provided their skills are at their sharpest, of course.
- First Albatross at the 9th hole wins a Volvo V40 Cross Country – the safest premium hatchback ever tested by Euro NCAP and Volvo’s answer to the premium compact hatchback segment
- First hole-in-one at the 16th hole wins a new Volvo S90 – Volvo’s new premium luxury sedan, which is making its official South African debut early in 2017
- First Eagle at the 17th hole wins a Volvo XC90, and
- First Eagle at the 18th hole wins a Volvo XC90 – the current South African Car of the Year and the first new-era Volvo which kicked off the brand’s renaissance in 2015
Daily Volvo prizes with the NGC app
For the first time in the history of the Challenge, a new smartphone app is available for visitors to interact with event partners and get more involved with the Challenge itself. With product details, brand facts and daily competitions, the Volvo section within the app is on hand for quick access to information – and daily giveaways to lucky app users. The free app, which is linked to social media, can be downloaded for Android and iOS devices through their respective app stores.
