Late yesterday afternoon EMER-G-MED’s M06 and A06 responded to reports of a car through a wall on George Road in Midrand.
It’s believed that the driver, a male patient in his 60s, had a heart attack while driving, losing conciousness and veering off the road into a wall.
An off-duty BLS medic, who was driving past the accident, stopped to assist – and found that the driver was in Cardiac Arrest, showing no signs of life. The medic immediately began CPR, but was unable to get a pulse back. The driver was declared dead on the scene.
A passenger from the car sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby facility for further care.
The scene was handed over to JMPD for investigation.
