Bridgestone South Africa inaugural involvement at the pink day exceeded expectations after strong support on World Cancer Day. Bridgestone is donating all proceeds from the 2016 sales of the unique Pink Tyre valve caps to The Pink Drive.
World Cancer Day, saw thousands of South Africans turn out at the Pink one-day international (ODI) at Wanderers cricket ground in Johannesburg. The stands were a sea of pink as South Africa’s national cricket team, the Proteas – also in pink kit – emerged victorious, sealing a one-day international (ODI) series win over rivals Sri Lanka with two matches left to play in the five-match series.
“The Proteas did us proud and the atmosphere was fantastic,” said Bridgestone PR Officer, Kelly Fester. “We cannot thank the crowd enough for the wonderful way they supported the match and the fight against cancer.
Fester reminded South Africans that it was not too late for them to contribute by buying a set of pink valve caps for their cars. “A set costs R50 and they are available at Supa Quick outlets countrywide. All proceeds go to cancer research and awareness, and we are aiming to raise a million Rand for the cause,” she concluded.
