Mahindra South Africa, hosted their dealer network consisting of 57 independently owned dealers to the annual “Dealer of the Year” (DOTY) awards function that was held in Johannesburg on the 26 May 2017. The event was attended by Chief of International Operations Mahindra Automotive & Farm Equipment Sector Mr Arvind Mathew & Mr Ashok Thakur Head of Africa Business.
Despite a subdued automotive industry experiencing a 8.5% decline in National Sales, Mahindra South Africa witnessed a year on year growth of 23% during the 2016-2017 Financial year. The Mahindra network achieved its highest Retail Sales numbers since inception in South Africa 13 years ago.
Mahindra South Africa has made significant investments on the local market, introducing 5 new vehicle models in the last 10 months.
Mahindra Bloemfontein (Large Category) represented by Dealer Principal Jaco Swart took the overall DOTY award as well as the Large dealer category award, followed by Mahindra Nelspruit (Medium Category) represented by Dealer Principal Cas Kolbe and Mahindra Heidelberg (Small Category) represented by the Sales Manager Pierre Nel. During the event, the CEO of Mahindra South Africa – Sanjoy Gupta- reinforced Mahindra’s long term strategy of investment and expansion of its business with a possible SKD plant in South Africa. Mr Gupta also stressed the Mahindra Rise philosophy that symbolizes – Accepting no limits, Alternative Thinking and Driving positive change.
