Recovery of Stolen Motor Vehicle in Umhlanga Ridge

Whilst patrolling the Kwamashu area in search of another hijacked motor vehicle at around 22:00 on Tuesday night, the Marshall Security Special Operations Team received information that a vehicle was being stripped in J section.

The SOT members along with Metro Police responded to the location where a white Toyota Hilux was found abandoned.

The vehicle had sustained severe strip damage from suspects attempting to locate the vehicles satellite tracking device. Although the number plates had been changed to false plates, a search on the vehicles VIN revealed that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the evening from the Umhlanga Ridge area.

Further investigation revealed that the owner who is a visiting foreign national from Lesotho had parked the vehicle on returning to his temporary residence where it had been stolen.

The suspects fled prior to the arrival of authorities and remain at large.
