Sixteen people injured when a taxi rolled in Benoni

Sixteen people were left injured this morning when a taxi rolled on the R21 southbound near the R23 in Benoni.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side in the middle of the road, facing oncoming traffic. The passengers had already climbed out of the taxi and were found walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that a total of sixteen patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, on this scene, no serious injuries or fatalities were found on the scene.

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and were thereafter transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
